- On 20th December, 2005 Warid Telecom International LLC was awarded a Mobile GSM License in Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC)
- Warid’s network was launched on 10th May, 2007 and has capacity for 3.0 million customers in the access and 5.5 million in the core, through its subsidiary in Bangladesh i.e. Warid Telecom International Limited.
- The main vendors to the network are Ericsson & Motorola.
- The network in Bangladesh is already being expanded further to handle 7 million (source: engineering) customers by December 2008 and meet the expected exponential growth in the telecom sector.
- Warid Bangladesh also plans to establish nationwide multi-terabit capacity fiber backbone linking all major cities to neighboring countries.
- The products and services shall include data services, broadband wireless internet access, cable TV, IP-TV, VOD, Video surveillance, video security and video conferencing facilities.
